Origin Story

Our Founder and CEO Mohammed started the Money Hub after being a public school kid from a low income immigrant background in NYC. His lived experience informed him of the belief that public school lacked high quality financial education and was setting up young people from low income background for failure.

In 2016 while undergrad at City College of New York, Mohammed founded the Money Hub. He went and partnered with schools and youth serving community orgs and held in person, engaging workshops for teens. Over a span of 2016-2018 we worked citywide serving over 10,000 public school kids.

In 2019 Mohammed was involved in a car accident which left him battling a Traumatic Brain Injury and subsequent recovery. During this time he got his team together and applied their learnings from in person work and build a gaming platform with the pillars of gamification, simplification, competition, reward, community and fun.

With the incorporation of our user tested curriculum which aligns with the NYS standard for financial education we launched Money Hub version 2.0 in 2024. Using a collaborative approach to gaming to solidify principles of income, credit, investing, budget combined with in person engagement that gets young people fired up to take control of their financial future
